The Beacon Academy Scholarship Grants

The  Beacon Academy  is an independent secondary school committed to academic excellence, citizenship and integrity. It prepares students for entry into colleges and universities locally as well as overseas. We are pleased to announce that 2 scholarships are now available to Filipino citizens who have completed seventh or eighth grades, or the equivalent.  The scholarship grant may cover full or partial fees for 4 years of high school, provided the grantees maintain appropriate academic standing and abide by the school rules and regulations as provided by the Scholarship Committee.

The scholarship grant covers partial or full tuition and matriculation fees, with the Capital Development Fee waived for all scholarship grantees. The family of grantees shall cover the transportation expenses, miscellaneous fees and provide the prescribed school uniforms for the student.

The scholarship grant is open to:

  1. Filipino citizens with no pending application for immigration to any foreign country.
  2. Students who are fourteen years of age by August 2010, and have completed seventh or eighth grade, or the equivalent.
  3. Students with demonstrated high academic achievement in the top 10% of the current school
  4. Families that demonstrate need for financial assistance, but can cover the miscellaneous, uniforms and other incidental expenses.
  5. Students with a good command of English and Filipino, both written and oral.
  6. Students in good health, of good moral character, who demonstrate high standards of personal integrity.

Applicants must submit:

  1. a letter of application written by the student, detailing a short personal academic history, personal goals or objectives, and ways that he/she intends to contribute to the learning community at the Beacon Academy.
  2. Scholarship Grant application form
  3. a Beacon Academy application form
  4. Parents' Financial Statement (see form)
  5. a copy of the current income tax return from the student's parents or guardians
  6. a transcript of records from the last 3 years at the current school
  7. a recommendation from the current school principal

The Application Process for this Scholarship Grant will be as follows:

  1. applications must be submitted by March 30, 2010 to Reception at Beacon School, located in the PCPD Building, 2332 Don Chino Roces Ave. ext., Taguig City or emailed to admin@beaconacademy.ph
  2. Suitable candidates will be contacted within 2 weeks of receipt of the application for scheduling of testing, attendance of a day at school with age peers, and an interview with the Head of School.
  3. Suitable candidates and their parents/guardians will undergo a final interview with the Scholarship committee.

The Scholarship Grantee and his/her parents must indicate acceptance within one week of notification of the scholarship grant. Parents or guardians shall provide for other needs of the student, including miscellaneous fees, uniform, lunch and snacks, and other incidental expenses. It is understood that the grantees shall complete the high school program at the Beacon Academy unless the grant is terminated by the Academy for reasons of poor academic performance or behavioral issues. Grantees shall maintain a level of scholastic achievement set by the Scholarship committee and agreed upon by the student, as well as abide by the rules and regulations of the Academy.  A yearly evaluation will be conducted by the Scholarship Committee to determine if the scholarship will be renewed in the following academic year. Parents will be informed in writing.
